William C. Simon, Jr., MPA

City Administrator

Mr. Simon was appointed to the post of City Administrator in June 2023. Mr. Simon replaced Mr. Max Alderman who was with the City of Bennettsville for 30 years. Mr. Simon's experience includes 20 years in local government with Richland & Orangeburg Counties as well as Richland School District Two as the Director of Planning. 

Mr. Simon has held several senior positions in local government as well as a number of policy implementation positions. Mr. Simon holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from South Carolina State University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Clemson University. He holds several certifications and currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Central Midlands Council of Governments and past-president of the American Public Works Association Midlands Chapter in South Carolina. Mr. Simon is a native of Bennettsville, South Carolina and excited to serve the community he is a product of.

The City of Bennettsville is committed to transparency and education.

The Bennettsville Citizens Academy is a project spearheaded by Administrator Simon in efforts to empower the community. This program introduces participants to the various functions of the City of Bennettsville Operations and features instruction by staff from the different divisions, outside agencies, and guest speakers.

The City of Bennettsville hosted a strategy meeting to organize a community clean-up of Crooked Creek. The meeting included contractors, citizens, volunteers, and staff. The purpose of the meeting was to develop a strategy for conducting maintenance of Crooked Creek.
