The Purchasing Department is responsible for the purchase of supplies, materials, equipment and contractual services required by any office, department or agency of the city government. Purchasing is also responsible for the distribution of all supplies, materials and equipment. We operate a warehouse facility which assists the Utilities Division of the City with their daily activities by stocking and maintaining inventory. Our goal is to obtain as full and open competition as possible on all purchases, contracts, and services. The City of Bennettsville’s purchasing department is a member of both the National Institute of Government Purchasing and the South Carolina Association of Government Purchasing Officials. In accordance with this goal we will advertise current “Request for Bids” and “Request for Proposals”. All of our bids are advertised in the local Marlboro-Herald Advocate, and most larger projects are advertised in the South Carolina Business Opportunities publication.

RFP Cheraw Street Affordable Housing Development
The City of Bennettsville is accepting Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development of affordable housing on a 10-acre parcel on Cheraw Street. This affordable housing development is a key component of the City’s effort to address housing affordability in its neighborhoods. The City seeks to maximize the number of affordable homes on the property, envisioning a minimum of forty (40) affordable units.
